Vic: Vast southern edge of fire still burns

Fire crews are continuing to battle a blaze in Victoria's high country that's destroyedmore than a million hectares.

The vast southern edge of the Bogong bushfire is still burning and authorities sayit'll take decent rainfall to extinguish it.

Department of Sustainability and Environment spokesman MICHAEL LEONARD says mild conditionsover the last few days have helped, but it's rain everyone's hoping for.

The fires have razed more than 40 homes and blackened over a million hectares of parkand forest since being sparked by lightning 42 days ago.
