Fed: Lucky charm aircraft leads race to Sydney

Four speed loving pilots from Hong Kong have touched down in Coolangatta to take an
almost unbeatable lead into the final leg of the historic London to Sydney air race.

After flying almost 22,000 kilometres over 18 countries, the 33 remaining entrants
will take tomorrow off before leaving on Saturday for the finish line in Sydney.

No-one has been more committed to winning than Asia's only entry, Spirit of Kai Tek
from Hong Kong.

The twin engine Aerostar 601P is painted the Chinese lucky colour of red and is decorated
with an ornate golden dragon for good fortune.

Kai Tek's co-pilot MARK GRAHAM says speed is the main criterium and his team is in
the race to win.

On Saturday the air race competitors will make a low level flight over Sydney Harbour
at about 2pm before following the Paramatta River to the finish line at Bankstown Airport.
