Extreme weather that's fanned bushfires across New South Wales has also led to snowfallin the Kosciuszko National Park.

National Parks and Wildlife Service director general BRIAN GILLIGAN says more than15,000 hectares of national park have been destroyed in 72 hours.

But the state-wide total fire ban is hardly necessary on Mount Kosciuszko, which isreceiving an unseasonal dusting of snow.
